For those of you who like to golf or would consider golfing at Walt Disney World here is some news.

Complimentary golf club rental for guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels
May 19, 2009

For the period May 1 2009 - December 31 2010, Disney are offering complimentary golf club rental to Walt Disney World resort hotel guests.

Terms & Conditions:

One complimentary club rental for any Guest staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels who purchases a non-discounted round of golf at the Palm, Magnolia, Lake Buena Vista or Osprey Ridge Golf Courses. (Select WDW Resort hotels are Disney-owned and -operated Resorts as well as the WDW Swan and WDW Dolphin Hotels.)
Disney offers Titleist and Cobra rental clubs.
Disney Resort Guests receive range balls and transportation to and from their select Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
Guests must present a valid WDW ID card at check-in at the Disney Golf course to receive this benefit.
Not valid with any other discount or offer.
Tee times may be booked through www.disneygolf.com or 407-WDW-GOLF.
Rental clubs are subject to availability

I haven't actually figured out whether or not it would be cheaper to use a DVC golf membership instead of the free club rental (since you can't combine the discounts), but for someone who doesn't have access to a golf discount this is certainly a good deal.

It seems like they are trying to encourage resort guests to play a "spur of the moment" round of golf during a visit to WDW.

I think it's a smart deal. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who enjoy golf who do not want the hassle of bringing their clubs to WDW. But if they could get a free rental of clubs and all they had to do was pay for the session, it's pretty darn convenient.
