Hi Everyone,

Last Labor Day weekend 2010 we held our 3rd annual Indianapolis Disney meet. Approximately 120 Disney fans attended from as far as Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Canada and all over Indiana.

The intent of the meet is to get to know other Disney enthusiasts like us and have some fun and laughs along the way. Like last year there will be no cost to attend this meet. We just ask that you bring a pitch-in food and/or drink item to share for the food table.

This meet is open to anyone willing to drive or even fly to the Indianapolis area. We'd love to have you join us. I'm hopeful to have several Hoosiers and other friends from other states join us in the Indianapolis area. If enough out-of-town guests join us we may have additional activities on the Friday night before the meet or the day after.

Please see below for meet information and details. Check this thread often for future details. We are planning an afternoon worth of fun Disney activities for kids and adults alike, prize drawings, contests and even some secret fun! We'll have more specific information the closer we get to Labor Day weekend.

Between now and Labor Day weekend I'll be updating this thread with meet information and attendees who will be joining us at the meet. Please post if you can attend the meet, how many guests will be joining your party including children and their ages. Even if you can't attend please post just to say hi!

Give Kids the World Village of Central Florida
Some of the monetary proceeds we raise at the meet will go to Give Kids the World Village of Central Florida via the Power of 10 $1 Million dollar initiative. We will be conducting a few activities during the meet where the proceeds will go to benefit this wonderful charity on behalf of the The Power of 10.

Deb Wills Avon Walk
Some of the monetary proceeds from the auctions and activities will go to benefit Deb Wills Avon Walk for breast cancer research. Her story is very inspirational and she's walking for a great cause. There will be some great auction items to bid on. Some of the items may draw high bids or require higher minimum bids. Please come prepared if you wish to bid on these items to benefit Give Kids the World Village and Deb's Avon Walk for breast cancer.

Please feel free to bring your Disney pins for pin trading opportunities. There will be a table setup for pin displaying and trading during the meet. Whether you are a casual or serious pin trader feel free to share and trade them with your fellow Disney enthusiasts.

I've updated the list of attendees in post 1. A couple of Walt Disney World Moms Panelists will be attending the meet. It's a great opportunity to speak with them about their experience(s).

Hi Everyone -

Just a quick update. One of the items to give-a-way or auction off this year is a 3 night vacation package at the Universal Orlando resort. This package must be used during the weekend of 12/8 - 12/11 2011.

This package for up to 4 people includes:
- 3 nights at a select Universal Orlando onsite resort (Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, or the Royal Pacific Resort).
- 3 day park hopper passes for the Universal Orlando Resort

This package is very specific and must be used during the weekend specified above. Unfortunately, we can't make modfications to the package. This includes the dates.

As previously mentioned, we are not sure how we are giving this package away just yet. We'll have more details the closer we get to the meet. Stay Tuned!

I'll have a list of additinal prizes and silent auction items the closer we get to the meet.

- Don't forget to bring a food item to share with other guest at the meet.
- Representatives from the Walt Disney World Moms Panel will be at the meet. Feel free to ask them any questions you may have about the Moms Panel registration process which is set to open in a few weeks.
- The meet will start promptly at 1:00PM. We will be awarding prizes at the top of every hour including several Disney gift cards. The silent auction will start at 1:00PM and end at exactly 5:00PM. The meet will end at 6:00PM.

I need to update the attendee list, but we are now over 100 people who've signed up. Attending the meet is free so if you are in the area and need a Disney fix please stop by. Please continue to spread the word. Looking forward to seeing everyone this Saturday. :wizard:

There's usually a few family's who don't hear about our meet until it's too late. Spread the word.

We are giving away lots of great prizes. I'm sitting hear looking at hundreds of dollars in Disney gift cards... Admission to the meet is free which means you could come to the meet, have a great time, possibly win a great prize, and have a Dole Whip all at no cost to you. Kim, Anna, and I are so appreciative of everyone who came to the meet and supported Give Kids the World.

The meet has always been about getting together with Disney fans at least one time each year. It's kind of funny, but we talk on the boards several times a month, but when it comes to seeing and talking to each other face-to-face it rarely happens. When we plan family vacations to Disney parks we rarely see each other because our vacations don't match up. This is our chance to see each other, talk about what we have in common, and have a great time sharing our Disney passion.

Although we try and raise as much money for Give Kids the World as we can I don't want to overemphasize fundraising because it can sometimes take away from the fun we want to enjoy during the meet. This is why we don't charge anything for admission or for Dole Whip, etc. I hope you all feel we struck a good balance between fundraising and meet enjoyment.

Thanks to everyone (and I mean everyone) because without your support the meet wouldn't be what it is. It takes people to show up, bring their food, reach out to other people in the venue, and show their generosity. We all share in making the meet enjoyable. I personally saw a lot of generosity yesterday at the meet; the 50/50 raffle winner donated the money back to GKTW, guests who walked up to me or Kim and handed us a donation (including a family who will be visiting GKTW this October), the WDW Mom's Panel who graciously donated free handouts, and those guests who donated to other GKTW fundraising efforts. Thanks to those who helped run the face-painting, kids tattoo, and Indy Meet ornament table. We even had a special person who could write in Japanese volunteer to write names in Japanese on the back of the ornaments and Duffy Bears. I don't know about everyone else, but I ate so much Dole Whip yesterday I started turning yellow as the meet progressed. Again...We can't thank you enough for supporting the meet the way you did. It was very heart-warming.

Here are the totals from the meet.

- Attended - 108
- Money raised for GKTW - $3,100. Some of this money was donated before the meet and for other GKTW fundraising efforts like the Muddy Buddy Challenge and Disneyland Tinkerbell Half Marathon.
- 25 Indy Meet ornaments built
- 30 Duffy Bears created
- 192 Dole Whips consumed
- Approximately 55 Mickey Rice Krispy treats enjoyed.
- Several character photo ops
