At the Sorcerer's Hat, there's some construction walls set up. This work is for new character backdrops: light up dimensional stars. Disney is also adding a film strip prop to the old Snow White planter (kind of between Sorcerer's Hat and Echo Lake)... AND characters will be getting new costumes: 1940s-style movie star looks! Goofy in zoot suit w/ sunglasses. Chip/Dale with hats & ties. Donald in a fedora. Minnie/Daisy in gowns.

I like the idea of putting the characters in costumes that match the era represented by the Studios. Now will they take the next step and have them interact with CoH?

Probably soon after the Living Character Initiative is viable for outdoor encounters.

Actually, while any facelift is positive, I'm a bit disappointed with this news because it sounds like the hat is here to stay. At the presentation I went to during the DHS 20th anniversary last year, one of the Disney executives on stage mentioned the hat was going to be removed/moved and a cheer went up from the audience. I really much prefer the pre-hat & unobstructed view of GMR from Hollywood Blvd. Just kept the ambiance of the area....

I was at that same event and heard it too. Sadly, it seems like the power/influence of the Imagineers is greatly reduced compared to what it was years ago. Now decisions go through a dozen committees with everyone trying to get their say.

Is there any word on when we can expect to see the new character outfits? Have a trip coming up the first week of November, so I am hoping they will be out by then.

I haven't heard a time frame on when this will debut. I would think by November we will see this but who knows

I like the hat.. I get what your saying about the original view of GMR, and the area, so is there any way they could possibly move the hat elsewhere?

I like the hat, just not where it is. Move it to above the entrance to the Studios and I'll be quite happy

I too like the hat, cant really remember what it looked like without it. But your idea is a good one, heard many say they want to have theatre back.
