When you combine two young children and must-do thrill rides at Hollywood Studios, you get child swap... or you just don't ride. While I've made it clear in a previous post that I will only child swap for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (I just think it takes up too much precious park time for both parents to ride separately), my husband sees things differently. He really likes to ride the thrill rides at each of the parks. So, while he gets to ride Rock 'N' Roller Coaster (RnR), I get lots of uninterrupted husband-free shopping time (ie. the best kind of shopping!).
I thought I'd spend some time this week discussing my favorite places to shop at the The Studios and let you know why I like shopping there. I will stick to the Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard area, since that is as far as I usually venture off while my husband is riding RnR. I have to say, the shopping in this area of The...

There's some new streetmosphere in Hollywood Studios to check out starting today. The new "modern day film crew" is a group of street performers similar to the Citizens of Hollywood, except they are based on the Streets of America and are not set in the 1940s. These performers are set in the modern day and here's a video of their first bit.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see this new group of street theater performed on your next trip?

This article is long overdue. Partially due to scheduling conflicts, but most because I don't want to finish and publish it. If I publish it, that makes it final, and I don't want this to be true.
Over the past couple months we have been reporting on all the changes coming to Disney Hollywood Studios' Streetmosphere troupe, the Citizens of Hollywood. Probably the biggest upset of them all was the shocking announcement that fan favorite, Hollywood's Next Leading Man Bucky Greenhorn, was leaving. I had the bittersweet pleasure of being present for his last day, and got an exclusive first look at what's next for our ukelele superstar.
It started that Friday at 4 o'clock, with Bucky's last concert. As I set up my camera at...

I mentioned in a previous post that I believe The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (ToT) is the only ride in all of Walt Disney World for which the child swap is worth the time. Yes, you heard me right. I don't think Soarin', Expedition Everest, Splash Mountain, or Rock 'N' Roller Coaster are worth the time it takes to do a child swap. (Side note: child swap refers to when one parent rides first and then when he/she is done, the second parent has their turn, but can by-pass the line).
Why did I give ToT this honor? Well, I may be biased because I thoroughly enjoy haunted house-type rides (anywhere), but I believe ToT is the most well done ride in all of Walt Disney World. As with all Disney attractions, it's not just a ride, but an experience. You can find a free-fall ride at numerous theme parks. In fact, we have one called Drop Tower at the large amusement park in my region. It...

For those braving the Easter week crowds at Disney's Hollywood Studios, there's a few changes in the park hours and schedules you'll want to be aware of.
Hollywood Studios will be opening at 8am from April 17th to the 23rd, with a 7am opening for morning Extra Magic Hours on Monday and Friday.
In addition, the show schedule will ramp up for the week to allow more guests opportunities to see various shows.
- American Idol Experience will return to eight shows per day
- Jedi Training Academy will have 13 shows every day (including a few two-tier shows with Darth Maul added)
- Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt...

If you are like the many visitors to studioscentral.com, and enjoy spending most of your Walt Disney World vacation at Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS), doesn't it make sense to stay close to "home"?
Assuming you're dead set on carrying over the Disney magic to your sleeping quarters (as I firmly am), you'll be staying on Disney property. When trying to decide on a resort close to DHS, you have many Disney resorts to choose from (even though DHS doesn't have an official "resort area"). If you want the convenience of being able to walk to your resort from DHS (approximately 15 minutes away by foot) or to take a boat, you can stay at one of the Epcot-area resorts: Boardwalk Inn, Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin, Yacht Club Resort and Beach Club Resort. Keep in mind, however, that these resorts are all "Deluxe Disney Resorts", and if you're planning to pay rack rates, these resorts...

Too many times than I care to remember, I have heard friends and family members say they are avoiding Disney's Hollywod Studios (DHS) on their trip to Walt Disney World (WDW) because (and I quote) "there's nothing for kids there". Let's reflect on this statement, shall we?
Of course, for young children, DHS can't compete with Magic Kingdom for the fantastical attractions. Although DHS brings the movies to life, you won't find carousel-type rides as found in Dumbo the Flying Elephant, flying boats as found in Peter Pan's flight, or mine cars as found in Snow White's Scary Adventures. What you will find, however, is an opportunity to introduce your children to wonderful live performances, whether it's by the singers in Beauty and The Beast - Live on Stage or the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, the stunt drivers in Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, or the actors in Indiana...

When it comes to a new attraction like Star Tours 2, the most common question I'll hear is "Is it open for ride previews?". Now you can have that question answered with the brand new app for iPhone, Android and Palm WebOS!

The Star Tours 2 App is free, and it's available now in the Android marketplace and for iPhones and Palm WebOS by navigating to http://m.touringplans.com/wdw/star-tours-2. The iOS version does not have push notifications yet, but we've...

Ridley Pearson held a book signing at the Writer's Stop shop in Disney's Hollywood Studios on April 5, 2011. Pearson's presence drew a large crowd of fans eager to meet the author and have him sign their books.
Our friend Yulady was able to go with her daughter to the book signing and get us some great photos. The crowds for Pearson developed as early as 9:00am when guests lined up at the Writer's Stop just to buy the book. By 12:30 Yulady lined up with her daughter for the 2:00pm start. The line eventually looped toward the Streets of America up to the face painting area twice. He was very nice and gracious with Stephanie and all of her questions
