Yesterday, new American Idol Scotty McCreery lived up to his promise, just as all Idols and sports stars do now, and went to Disney World.
The streets were abuzz with excitement as Scotty made his way down Hollywood Boulevard with Mickey Mouse in a sports car, and an announcer gave fun factoids about Scotty, that sounded like they were pulled from his Match.com profile ("Scotty is a baseball fanatic, and his favorite country music stars are Johnny Cash and...
So you're on a seven day vacation to WDW, and by day four, you are starting to miss the comforts of home - and that includes the home-cooked meals! I can sympathize. My husband and I actually had this conversation on our most recent trip.
...but then we walked into the 50's Prime Time Cafe. There was suddenly this feeling of "Ah, we're home". Well, not our home - I should hope that our kitchen isn't adorned with 1950s memorabilia - but someone's home. At first glance, it could have been Frank and Marie's kitchen from Everybody Loves Raymond. But the point is, we didn't feel like we had stepped into another WDW restaurant.
We had a reservation, so we gave the Cast Member at the reception desk our names, and then sat down in a big enveloping couch...

I'm back... but reluctantly so! I'm never ready for a WDW trip to end. We had absolutely gorgeous weather for the first half of the week. No humidity at all. Then, on Thursday, it became uncomfortably hot, and it made us remember why we like our winter trips better!
Since my last post before I left was about my top 10 must-dos in Hollywood Studios, I thought I'd report back on which ones happened, and which did not, and what I thought of the ones that did!
10.Eating a Toluca Leg at Toluca Legs Turkey Co. on Sunset Boulevard. -- Sadly, my husband did not get to eat one this trip. The heat was intense on our day in the Studios and my 2 year-old daughter's patience was running out after a busy morning. We opted to head back to the resort for lunch there. I guess he will have to wait until September to sink his teeth into one of these again!
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry visited Disney's Hollywood Studios last week and stopped to pose for a photo with Goofy at the Rock 'n Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
Anaheim Produce, on Sunset Boulevard, is closed starting today and will reopen on June 25, 2011.
Being from the northeast of the United States, I've become quite the pizza snob as nearly any pizza outsideof the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) is usually disappointing. So for years I've not been a fan of the pizza at Toy Story Pizza Planet (or most pizza at Walt Disney World) because it's no better than the frozen pizzas you can find in your supermarket.
However, earlier this month I had heard that there was an Italian meatball sub at Toy Story Pizza Planet that was very good and it piqued my interest. So much so that I decided to try it out this past weekend and see if the food was as good as the hype lead me to beleive.
You may remember an attraction from the Disney-MGM Studios called Superstar Television. If you do or don't, you can take a few minutes and watch this remarkable good quality video of a typical show. Kudos to whomever uploaded this!
Wow! We leave tomorrow for 8 glorious nights and 9 amazing days in Disney World! 'Excited' doesn't cut it! We can't wait to step into our home away from home, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas and start our next adventure!
As this is my last post before the trip, I thought I'd list the top 10 things I'm looking forward to trying/re-doing at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I'm planning to take a break from blogging while on vacation, but you can follow my live tweets starting tomorrow at @DreaminofAKV.
Now, without any further ado, here are my top 10 for this trip (in descending order):
10. Well, this isn't one of MY must-dos, but it is for my hubby, so I threw it in my list. Eating a Toluca Leg at Toluca Legs Turkey Co. on Sunset Boulevard.
9. Seeing the new Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade. I know...
