Disney announced today the end of its popular ESPN the Weekend event in an announcement today. Disney seemed to indicate they would no longer host ESPN the Weekend at Disney's Hollywood Studios in favor of focusing on other events at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex such as the new ESPN RISE Girls Showcase and the ESPN RISE Games.
The move came as a surprise as there were ESPN the Weekend 2012 dates for both the event and the Champion...
In Private Party Venues at Disney's Hollywood Studios – Part I, we covered the basic requirements and costs of holding an event in the park and looked at venues along Sunset Boulevard. Today we'll check out Hollywood Boulevard, Animation Courtyard, Mickey Avenue and Commissary Lane.
The Great Movie Ride Perhaps the most iconic place to hold a private event on Disney's version of Hollywood Boulevard is the Great Movie Ride, inside Grauman's Chinese Theater. Disney has created an elaborate event concept that uses three different sets inside the ride, plus and optional dance floors inside and outside the show building. The event starts with guests assembling in the forecourt of the theater, where they are "discovered" by a director who wants...
I want to welcome Carrie Hayward as a special guest blogger for Studios Central. Carrie is THE private event guru and she knows an ungodly amount about private events, having personally experienced many of them. She blogs about them on her site, Disney Travel Babble, and she also co-hosts the Inside Disney Weddings podcast. And oh yea, she also is the author of PassPorter’s Disney Weddings & Honeymoons. A big thank you to Carrie for taking the time to explore the many locations inside Disney's Hollywood Studios you can have a private event!
As the author of a guidebook to Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, former...
Disney has announced that Imagineering will feature a behind-the-scenes video on the creation of New Fantasyland expansion in the Magic Kingdom within the One Man’s Dream exhibit at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The expanded video will debut at One Man’s Dream this week.
I love Disney World trivia, especially trivia within Hollywood Studios, because it's always fun to test your own knowledge of all things Disney Parks. The problem with a lot of trivia is that much of it is well known and most of the questions have been "out there" for sometime.
On a recent trip to Hollywood Studios, I had the idea to see if I can come up with my own trivia questions that I would consider really difficult. By difficult, I mean not something you could Google nor something that is likely photographed. Basically, questions that would require you to know it or not.
To get things started, I've got a question to start with today. As far as I'm concerned, this will last until someone gets it right. Don't worry, I didn't go with questions that are like "how many bolts are in this building" or something absurd like that. I felt like the questions I found are...
The Backlot Tour will close September 4 through 24, 2011 and will reopen on September 25, 2011.
Don't get too excited, the Backlot Tour typically closes for a few weeks each year for routine maintenance.
The quick service stand, Anaheim Produce, reopened this week after being closed for about a month. Whenever a restaurant or shop reopens after a closure, I like to take a look at what's different. The look of the location remains the same, with perhaps a new paint job. But the menu is what we're looking at to see what, if anything, Disney changed.
After comparing this new menu to the old menus I had (and found online), it seems there's not a whole lot that's changed. The biggest difference is they've added a new Frozen Golden Margarita to this...
The new Cars 2 meet-n-greet has opened to the public today, featuring Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater.
While the characters are the same two, Lightning McQueen has gotten a makeover to reflect his new look from the Cars 2 film.
In addition, their meet area has been transformed from Luigi's Garage to match the garage Lightning can be found in the film.
The new meet-n-greet is open every day at Hollywood Studios during regular park operating hours.
