Effective October 26, 2011, Walt Disney World will require guests to provide a credit card to hold a reservation at select restaurants.  If the guest fails to show up for the reservation and/or does not cancel at least one day in advance, Disney World will charge a penalty of $10 per person listed on the reservation.

There are a number of Signature Restaurants and Character Dining Restaurants but this new policy affects the following restaurants in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Guests may cancel their reservations at any table service...

Disney's Hollywood Studios Entertainment team is planning on testing a new a mobile, interactive unit known as Cubot in the Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on October 11 & 12.

Cubot is described as a “spinning block toy” from Toy Story Land.  Guests will be able to manipulate the unit by turning one of its 3 blocks to mix and match the four characters of the Cubot.

Guests can create different combinations of the four characters (cowboy, princess, robot, astronaut) and learn what a princess might say if she has robot feet. The Cubot, which is remotely operated, will respond in character.

Don't get too attached, Cubot is destined to go to Hong Kong Disneyland as part of their Toy Story Land.

I'm a sucker for watching old commercials for Walt Disney World and some of the early commercials for the Disney-MGM Studios really resonate with me because of the memories they bring back.  Join me for a look back at some classic commercials for the Studios, as found on the Interwebs!

All the buzz this week around the Disney Internet community is the fact that Saturday marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Magic Kingdom (and Walt Disney World as a whole).  It's a big day for the Magic Kingdom and rightfully so.  Some of the days events have been announced already and other aspects are remaining a surprise.

I thought it would be fun to take a look back at Disney's Hollywood Studios' 20th Anniversary celebration that took place a year and a half ago.  We may see some overlap in terms of what Disney does to celebrate the Magic Kingdom's 40th compared to what it did for the Studios.

Last week Disney changed the menu at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant to an all-day menu and it turns out the 50's Prime Time Cafe has also had a changeover to an all-day menu so we poured over the menu changes to let you know what's new.

  • There used to be a lunch and dinner menu, but now the menu has been consolidated into just one menu for the whole day
  • Specialty Drink section is the same as it was for both menus and prices have remained the same

  • Blue Claw Crab Cake has gone up...

Disney has changed up the menu at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant so we looked over the new menu and compared it to the old menus and give you a quick run down of what's new, changed or the same.  Big thanks to Disney Food Blog for alerting us to this change!

Will you be in Walt Disney World on September 24?  We're hosting an informal meet up inside Disney's Hollywood Studios at the ABC Commissary for anyone "in town" who would like to join us!

So why "Curry Fest"?  Well, I really love the chicken curry at ABC Commissary so if you're so inclined, I'd invite you to buy yourself a bowl and join me for one of my favorite meals!

When: Saturday, September 24 at 3:00pm

Where: ABC Commissary, somewhere to the right of the entrance as you walk in

We're looking forward to hanging out with everyone and getting to know everyone.  Please note the name of this meet is merely a clever name and you need not actually like, enjoy or eat any cury!

If you're planning on coming, let...

We've been waiting for it for the past few weeks, but today Disney has begun putting up the first strands of lights for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights for this year.

The process of putting up the lights will encompass the next few weeks as Disney's Cast Members prepare the Streets of America to be transformed for the Osborne Lights 2011 premiere on November 10, 2011.

Supermodel Tyra Banks visited Disney's Hollywood Studios on August 31, 2011 and took time to pose with Minnie for this photo.  Tyra also was at the Studios to show off part of Disney's new ear-hat collection.

This past weekend I was delighted to finally make my DIsney fan pilgrimage to the place that started it all- Disneyland! But on the way I stopped at the D23 Expo in the Anaheim Convention Center- a basic Comic Con for Disney Nerds. There I got to see Disney celebrities, props, Imagineers, and panels, including this one by executive vice president of Creative Development at Walt Disney Imagineering, Tom Fitzgerald, giving us a behind the scenes look at the 10+ year process that was the creation of Star Tours 2.0.
