Earlier this week we posted about a new Star Tours Medal Ceremony that is beginning to take place in Hollywood Studios but we didn't know who or how one is chosen. It's now clear Disney is recruiting kids to join in the area surrounding Walt Disney World.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Disney is going to neighboring hotels and off-property sales locations on International Drive and U.S. Highway 192 (plus a few Lake Buena Vista stops) this summer to promote the brand new Star Tours attraction.
The van, dubbed the Star Tours Central Florida Tour van, is completely decorated with images from Star Tours and riding in the van are characters from the Star Wars films that will meet guests. Included are Bree Starlighter, who is the Chief Holo-Communications Officer for Star Tours (and was featured in the mall tour to promote Star Tours prior to its opening) along with Chewbacca and a Jawa.
Starlighter gives children special edition Star Tours mouse-ear hats (also leftover from the mall tour) and certificates that invite them to participate in a new Rebel Alliance medal ceremony at Hollywood Studios.
The medal ceremony is for kids age 4-12 and is held in Disney's Hollywood Studios at 2:20 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays through Aug 1.
If you want your kids to be picked, well, there isn't much information as to when or where exactly they will be. Disney says the van goes around the area between 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through July 30. The scheduled stops are not announced ahead of time.
