February 20, 2011 Studios Report

Here's what's going on in Disney's Hollywood Studios this week that you might not be able to tell based on this week's photo update.

Here's what's going on in Disney's Hollywood Studios this week that you might not be able to tell based on this week's photo update.

  • It was a crowded day in Hollywood Studios thanks to the beginning of a holiday week (Presidents Week) as well as Fantasmic! shows that day and the nice weather.
  • The new photo opportunity being worked on in front of the Sorcerer's Hat should be finished by the end of the month.  It's been taking longer than originally scheduled but they've now added trees and other shrubs to block unsightly elements and it is coming together now.
  • Quick entertainment note for next week, due to ESPN the Weekend, Disney Channel Rocks will be performed on the Streets of America while the ESPN the Weekend stage is set up and used. In addition, the character meet-n-greets will be moved to inside the Magic of Disney Animation.
  • Attention toddlers (and the parents they drag around the parks), there's a chance for a soft opening or two of Disney Junior – Live on Stage prior to its official reopening on March 4.  I wouldn't plan your vacation around it, but progress seems to be going well and a soft opening (unannounced show open to the public) isn't out of the question.
