Disney trying to improve Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun?

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that it has reports from Cast Members in the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun! parade that Mr. Potato Head and Smitty, a fuzzy worker monster from "Monsters Inc.," would be joining the highly criticized parade.

If true, the decision to add characters could be a signal that Disney is trying to do something to answer the steady flow of negative reviews that have arisen since the parade debuted last month.

In the short amount of time that Pixar Pals has been running, many have found the parade to be too short and lacking a certain je ne sais quoi that makes a parade succesful.  The parade currently clocks in at 7 or 8 minutes in length and the question is does adding a few new characters really make a difference?

I don't think anyone really expects Mr. Potato Head to make the difference between a good and a bad parade.  The parade needs a lot of attention in the form of new floats, better music and anything else that makes the show longer and not remind everyone of a cheapened Block Party Bash parade.
