Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith
Attraction In-Depth

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is exactly what Disney says it is, a high speed turbulent thrill ride. You wait in line outside G-Force records where Aerosmith is recording. As you enter the recording studio building, your greeted with rock memorabilia as you continue to wait to enter the recording studio. Once you enter the recording studio, you see the band Aerosmith finishing up their latest recordings. As they are about to meet you, their manager comes in and reminds the rockers they are late for a concert at the Los Angeles Colosseum. Aeromsith decides to bring you along with them and gets you a "super stretch limo". You're sent to the alley behind the recording studio to pick up your ride. A very long Cadillac-esque coaster pulls up and your seated(two people per row, overhead restraints). You then pull away to wait to go where the real ride begins.

Comments

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is one of Disney's best rides. It blows away Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railway to the utmost proportions. The wait time will more than likely be extremely long and a barely covered waiting area outside means you'll be sweating the pounds off. Ride RnR just as the park opens or in the hour before it closes.

The preshow is neat the first few times. I'm not sure what sort of technology is employed to make Aerosmith look somewhat like they are really there, but that's Disney magic for you. My only gripe with this is after seeing it a few times, you'll probably be saying to yourself, "When is this thing going to end? I want to go ride the coaster!". And its true, the preshow will make any RnR veteran impatient. My best advice is to admire the scenery elsewhere in the studio while they're going, and wait for they key phrase,"...make it a super-stretch!".

The actual ride is unbelievable. Again, not to wreck too much of the ride, you're flipped, rolled and shot through a great dark track(same as Space Mountain) with a select Aeromsith hit song to guide you. My personal favorite is Sweet Emotion and Dude, looks like a Lady and it seems I can never get it to play when I'm there. This is one of the few rides where sitting in the front car is the best. If you don't believe me, sit wherever they place you the first time you ride, then ask to sit in the front row the second time. You'll be thanking the heavens you read this.

Being the super headliner ride it is, if you plan on riding this anytime during the day, get a FastPass or suffer in the lines. In case you haven't noticed, this is one of the best rides in all of WDW and should not be missed unless you have a deep fear of roller coasters and have no intentions of ever overcoming that fear.
